Roger L Menard

Roger L. Menard, age 86, of Winter Springs, passed away Sunday, June 18, 2017. He was born November 14, 1930 to the late Levis and Irene (Dussault) Menard. Mr. Menard was a first generation American, having emigrated from Canada. He proudly served his country in both the United States Air Force as well as the United States Army. He worked for NASA as a part of the moon launch and also designed cable systems for the shuttle program. He also designed Mickey Mouse at EPCOT for the fire works display. Mr. Menard was also formerly employed as a code inspector for the  hospital.He retired with the state of Florida in 2001. He enjoyed the Star Wars flight simulator at EPCOT. He was a member of MENSA. He was also a member of Saints Peter & Paul Catholic Church, Winter Park and was a former usher at Saint Margaret Mary Catholic Church, Winter Park. Mr. Menard was preceded in death by his parents and by his great-granddaughter, Amelia Elizabeth Valle. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Beverly; daughters, Terry (Ray) Valle, Deborah (Vincent) Vazquez, Karen (Jeff) Scott; sister, Pauline (Bill) Roberts; grandchildren, Christopher Valle, Brian Valle, Ashley Vazquez, Christine Vazquez, Matthew Scott, Megan Scott; great-grandson, Andrew Michael Valle. Funeral Mass for Mr. Menard will be celebrated at 2:00 pm on Thursday, June 22, 2017 at Saints Peter & Paul Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Glen Haven Memorial Park, Winter Park. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in his honor to National Right to Life, 512 10th Street NW, Washington, DC 20004.
