Darian "DJ" Jyrai Elwin

May 9, 1995 ~ May 25, 2018 (age 23)

Darian Jyrai Elwin “DJ”, age 23 of Orlando, was received by God on May 25, 2018. Born in
State College, Pennsylvania on May 9, 1995, DJ was an all-around talent. He was a musical
savant who produced under the pseudonym “The Shade”, and was a student at Valencia
College. He was a graduate of Aloma High School and a member of St. Thomas More Catholic
Church in Decatur, Georgia, where he was baptized at the age of one. DJ loved his family
dearly.

Family gatherings were the highlight of his life and he was always willing to gift us with a song or
two. He also loved church, helping others less fortunate then himself, and had a fondness for
creating sounds. He was a gifted self-taught musician and composer who played piano,
trumpet, guitar, and drums. DJ had a lifelong love of learning and enjoyed being active, playing
basketball and flag football. He was a passionate Atlanta Falcons fan, win or lose. He is
preceded in death by his Great-Grandfather, Hubert S. Elwin; Great-Grandmother, Cresida
Elwin; Great-Uncle Vincent Elwin;Great-Aunt, Eveta Elwin; and Godmother, Sally Booker. He is
survived by his Mother/Grandmother, Evana Elwin-Mahdi, Father, Erich Tyrai Elwin; Mother,
Jennifer Moulton; Uncle Gabriel Mahdi; Aunt Lucia (Delroy) Davis; Great-Aunt Patricia
Edwards;Great-Uncle Clement Mitcham (Linda);cousins-considered sisters, Kyla (Brian)
Davis-Burton, Asha (Mitchell) Davis-Leggett, Tamaa Davis, Megan (Leo) Hylton, Justin
(Jennifer) Elwin, David Mitcham, Brian Mitcham, Laughton Mitcham, Manford Mitcham,
Ernestine Mitcham; Godmothers, Lorraine Vega, Pamela Stephens; Godfather, Arnold
Goodson; as well as a host of family members and friends. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated
for DJ on June 1, 2018. Darian “DJ” will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. He is
forever in God’s Kingdom.
